Simple and satisfying.
- ½ lb/230g beef
- 2 long onions
- 1 bundle shirataki
- ½ cup/60g sugar
- 3 tbsp mirin
- ½ cup/120ml soy sauce
Cut beef into thin slices, or use ground beef. Cut long onion diagonally into 1-1½ inch pieces. Put shirataki into boiling water, then drain.
Mix sugar, mirin and soy sauce in saucepan and bring to boil (you can substitute sake for mirin in a pinch). Add beef. Remove after color changes. Add onion and shiritaki and cook for 3-4 minutes. Replace beef.
Serve over cooked rice in individual bowls.
